Are you interested in having an Afternoon Tea in Northampton? If so, great choice! Known as the county town of Northamptonshire, it lies in the East Midlands region of England.
It also finds itself on the River Nene, some 60 miles from London and 45 miles from Birmingham. Today, it is a thriving market town and, indeed, one of the largest in the country. Visitors will undoubtedly have a great time here – why not find out for yourself today?
Archaeological evidence of people living in and around the Northampton region dates to the Bronze Age, Romans and Anglo-Saxons. During the early Medieval era, the settlement rose in prominence following the establishment of Northampton Castle. In time, King Richard I granted a town charter in 1189, with King John later appointing a mayor in 1215.
Northampton was the site of two era-defining battles. The first was in 1264 during the Second Barons’ War, with the second taking place in 1460 as part of the War of the Roses. The town went on to support the Parliamentarian cause in the English Civil War.
This resulted in Charles II ordering the destruction of its walls and most of the castle. The 1675 Great Fire of Northampton caused further turmoil. Yet, in time, its residents prevailed.
Today, after soaking up the area’s rich history, stopping in an Afternoon Tea Northampton establishment makes for the perfect pastime. Expect indulgent delicacies, exemplary service and a smiling face in whichever venue you decide upon.
