afternoon tea is served in the restaurant from 3 pm until 5 pm. last orders for afternoon tea are at 4:30 pm. They do not take reservations for afternoon tea so please arrive early to avoid disappointment as tables are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

History of Whitstable Castle
Whitstable Castle was built in 1135 by Hugh de Montfort. It was originally a motte and bailey castle, but it was later rebuilt as a stone keep in the 12th century. The castle was besieged during the Civil War and was slighted in 1648. It was then abandoned and fell into ruin. In 1858, the castle was bought by the Duke of Connaught, who carried out some restoration work. However, it wasn’t until 1926 that the castle was completely restored to its former glory.
Today, Whitstable Castle is a Grade I listed building and is open to the public for afternoon tea and other events. So if you’re looking for a taste of history with your afternoon tea, Whitstable Castle is the perfect place to visit.
